About Oamaru Funeral Services

Our symbol is a dove and an acacia branch. The acacia is an ancient emblem of the enduring soul — hardy, evergreen, rot-resistant wood that outlasts almost everything around it. The dove speaks for itself: peace, love, and the gentlest possible passage. Together they say, without fuss, everything that needs to be said.Paul Searle has been a funeral director for nearly forty years. He started at seventeen and trained under a traditional funeral director, learning the work properly from the ground up, at a time when the industry was still largely in local hands.Oamaru Funeral Services is a small, independent practice. Paul carries out almost all of the work himself, supported by a small staff of trusted locals.
